Eirini Gratsia

Eirini Gratsia is a Postdoc Researcher at the and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, with research focused on the application of molecular methods to the study of non-indigenous species, particularly benthic macroinvertebrates. Her experience includes marine non-indigenous species, DNA barcoding and metabarcoding, environmental DNA, and biodiversity assessment. She has worked within the Genetics and eDNA Laboratories of HCMR and has participated in European research projects including ANERIS, MARBEFES, ECOHULLCLEAN and MOUNT, as well as international training and transnational access activities focused on molecular biodiversity assessment.

Within the INVASIONS project, Eirini will contribute to field sampling and sample processing, with particular involvement in the molecular component of NIS monitoring. Her experience in DNA metabarcoding, eDNA and invasive species research will support the genetic analysis of collected material, biodiversity assessment and comparison of molecular and conventional approaches. She will also contribute to data analysis and dissemination activities, including scientific publications and project workshops.
